At the peak of the war, Arkael led a daring assault against Aurenhal, a divine stronghold conjured in the clouds by the god Ilvareth. He wielded the power of Solrend to burn through divine defenses, even wounding the god himself. But Arkael believed only in absolution by fire—even for his own people.

Fearing corruption from the gods' influence, Arkael ignited Ciraethal itself, turning the flying city into a falling star aimed at Ilvareth's temple. The explosion shattered Aurenhal, but took Arkael and his people with it.

Legacy: The scorched crater left behind still burns. Ecclesia calls it the "Blight of the Apostate."
