Vaerith Xylvarus, or more known to Aurelium as "The Blackstar" is a young man who has clawed his way from nothing to something. Once a young orphan from the hellish city of Skystead, Vaerith is now an experienced mercenary attempting to find something that he can attach himself to.

He was once the student of Keitaro Kanashi "The White Death", a legendary assassin. Growing up alongside Keitaro's other disciples, Vaerith was always a quiet boy, preferring to sit back and analyze a situation as it unfolded. Due to his personality, and the fact that they were polar opposites, Vaerith and Kamael Luxord were paired together. The two quickly became close friends and any who saw the two together saw a completely different side of Vaerith than what they would see without Kamael.

After the death of Keitaro, Vaerith is now a wandering mercenary who's identity as "The Blackstar" was given to him after Exilium's first battle. He now finds himself within the Broken Lands, a sector of Vestaria where all displaced peoples were sent after "The Collapse".
